Cover vs. Original

All Along the Watchtower

That is not an easy choice: But in this case I have to decide in favour of the cover version ofJimi Hendrix. His style of playing guitar is just sensational.
Bob Dylan was impressed by Jimis version of his song, too. So he even once played it during a concert in the style of Jimi Hendrix.
But I can't wait to see how you will vote...

Tough choice cos I like em both. Bob's version just seems to have more of an iritation in the harmonica then Jimi. I'm a guitarist so Jimi gets my vote.

Hendrix by a landslide. It's a beautifully written song by Dylan, but Hendrix's performance makes it for me. Personally I like Dave Matthews Band's version of it best of all, though.

dylan is classic, but Hendrix invented a new way of playing guitar, jimi hendrix wins it

Jimi. I saw Bob Dylan live and his band played it in Jimi's style. Bob's version suits the lyrics more, however. Definitely a tough one.

Hendrix's solo in this song is one of the best of all time. Obviously the better song.

My first record I bought (in the age of 13) was Jimi Hendrix Pop History. One song of it slammed me down: all along the watchtower. Whata great and powerful song, what a greater and more powerful guitarplay af Hendrix! IMHO it is one of the greatest pop-songs ever.
