Easy
The song Easy is played in the radio nearly only in the version by Faith No More, at least here in Germany. However the original version by Lionel Ritchie and his band The Commodores is pretty old from the year 1977.
But in fact Faith No More didn't change much in its version of this song. One guitar solo more and not so much more. For me this is not an important change, so I vote for Lionel Ritchie.

They just sound the same for me...

This is actually a tough choice. The Commodores were great but Faith No More did this song so much justice. For me they just scrape this one.

I'm actually a huge Faith No More fan, but I honestly voted for the Commodores version. They are virtually identical, except that FNM decided to leave out the second verse to shorten the song. Plus, this is a really cheesy song anyway and was kind of a predictable cover for a band like Faith No More. BTW this song is actually included in some versions of Angel Dust worldwide, just not in the US.

The Commodores version is much smoother and more complete. In FNM's version it's like something is missing and the backgound choir is not that accurate on some notes.

FNM changed more than that, they completely removed the second verse making it a one verse song.

The fact that this cover (and not any of their original tunes) made Faith No More popular worldwide speaks about the quality of the original. They didn't bother to change arrangement and solo even, that's how perfect the original version is.

It might be the ripping guitar solo, or the fact that Mike Patton seems to own it better than Richie does, but FTM's version is great. BTW, the song is on the Faith No More E.P. "Songs to Make Love To." not "Angel Dust." But Angel dust is their greatest album, so buy it anyway.
