Cover vs. Original

Knockin' on Heaven's Door

In this case the decision is quite difficult for me. On the one hand so many bands covered this great song, but Guns 'n' Roses created the best cover version. On the other hand the original version by Bob Dylan fits in my opinion better to this song.
So finally my winner here is Bob Dylan.

Guns 'n' Roses
1991

vs.

Bob Dylan
1973

Cold Chisel hands down (swingshift Album). Axel boys use same arrangment. Pretty impressive how Axel hits low notes of Ian Moss and high screams of Jimmy Barnes. One of The Eagles members (Kenny Loggins I think) was quoted how was blown away with the vocal range Axel had when he watched him warm up once.

Dylan can't sing? Am I the only person who's heard Guns N' Roses who didn't go def from his glam-butrock screaching? I'll never get mainstream music fans, it doesn't make any sense to me how someone sees the industry put sell all over something and prefers it to real artistic expression.

Bob Dylan cannot sing at all. Probably the greatest song writer of all time. GNR did a great job of it

GnR are great but their cover over this is absolute bollocks!! Juvenile rubbish. Dylan all the way. If you want to hear a great cover (recorded in about 1977) have a listen to Cold Chisel's version. Absolutely brilliant. Maybe the best version.

What the hell are you guys on. My version is so much better cuz i can actually sing it. Bob Dylan's voice is kind of balls. "You know where the fuck you are?? You're in the jungle baby, you're gonna dieeeeeeee" :D.

Both versions kick ass but Dylans is WAY better

Hey you saw Axl at WalMart too? Did you see Bob Dylan trying to give away his new record "people are buying"? Or were you too busy rolling in your cash in lovely Canada?

Axel ruined it. "Hey, hey, hey,..." blech...
Dylan's is better. Even Clapton's is better than GnR's.

"and in my oppinion Axel has one of the most annoying voices ever." I second that. Bob Dylan wrote it, therefore the better version is his.
