Cover vs. Original

Knockin' on Heaven's Door

In this case the decision is quite difficult for me. On the one hand so many bands covered this great song, but Guns 'n' Roses created the best cover version. On the other hand the original version by Bob Dylan fits in my opinion better to this song.
So finally my winner here is Bob Dylan.

Guns 'n' Roses
1991

vs.

Bob Dylan
1973

Breagan Wallin, you made me chuckle. Thanks. Actually, Dylan's version is better and he's a better artist, which is why he's still making records (that people are buying), and films are being made about him. I think I saw Axl working as a Wal Mart greeter there in lovely Chesterfield. But hey, thanks for attempting to act as if you know what you're talking about. Like I said...you made me laugh.

Bob Dylan all the way. People say his voice is terrible but it grows on you, and in my oppinion Axel has one of the most annoying voices ever.

ALL RIGHT YOU ALL NEED TO SHUT UP! Bob Dylan is awesome but face it the man can't sing AT ALL! Guns N' Roses are actually musically talented AND could play more than just one style of music (folk). So Yes Bob Dylan is great and so is this song, if you're too narrow minded to appreciate him SHUT UP!. Yes GNR are awesome and did an excellent cover if you can't appreciate IT, SHUT UP!

Both are great, but don't forget that Bob's changed music history, and this is not GNR best song

GnR version sucks. Dylan's is 100x better.

Can't stand Guns N' Roses, especially when they try to cover great songs.

Guns N' Roses do a real fine cover, but Dylan's easily gets my vote.

Don't forget the version of Pink Floyd. Their version is of great quality! Much better than the version of GnR!

"..., bt man, can people stop critising guns n roses for making it more 'hard rock', all they did was take a great song and redo it in their own style, you can't judge a band, or a song, just because of their style..."....i agree with this....you cant judge gnr for makiga cover in hard rock style...they are a rock band, they wont do cover in, i dont know, rap style....but if the style doesnt suits the song, if the style destroys it, then you have all the rights to judge them...
