Cover vs. Original

Knockin' on Heaven's Door

In this case the decision is quite difficult for me. On the one hand so many bands covered this great song, but Guns 'n' Roses created the best cover version. On the other hand the original version by Bob Dylan fits in my opinion better to this song.
So finally my winner here is Bob Dylan.

Guns 'n' Roses
1991

vs.

Bob Dylan
1973

ughh...I have never heard a worse cover. I don't know how anybody could possible make fun of dylan's voice and then dig axl rose's. the cover makes me want to throw up, but then again so do most guns & roses songs. I think they wrecked a great song.

Definitely have to go with Bob Dylan's version here; this song (to me) isn't about "headbanging". I also don't really hear how Axl Rose's voice is any better than Dylan's, but oh well. I also agree with Robert from Melbourne; this song on Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is amazing. I believe that it's set with a gospel backing and it sends shivers down my spine.

GNR. I agree with Shayne from Down Under. Emmanuel -- DUDE CHILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

A timeless masterpiece that was only complimented by the GnR version. Both have the emotion but the GnR version has more attitude and is more in your face. Plus this song needed some guitar work from slash.

Good call by 'Shayne' from Melbourne as well, Dylan is a master of words but sadly can't sing what he puts on paper.

ANYONE that say Bob cant wign with "oomph" is clearly deaf. I've never heard more emotion in a song then when Bob Dylan sings it. The fact that your picking Axl rose's voice over bob Dylan's is even more baffling. Besides a whinny girlie voice, axl rose's is a sissy lil bitch.
