Cover vs. Original

Comfortably Numb

Both songs are good, but the Tool version is more modern. That makes the song not better, but I like it better.

Alright let me start off by saying i dislike Pink Floyd, they are not a good band, they have a good meaning to them but thats about it....
Tool is an excellent band with meaning and the best playing of all instruments and actually using musical techniques [transitioning, for example] ....
And i just listiened to the version of comfterbly numb that i downloaded that is supposibly "tools version" but i could not tell, and i have not heard it so i do not think there is an actual version, unless its on salival or something or just never was realesed on an albumn? i dont know but fuck pink floyd and fuck you insolate assholes who dont like tool
and all of its members

I can't say what you all were listening to, but the version that I heard was DEFINITELY NOT TOOL. I am a huge fan of BOTH bands and am not aware that Tool ever covered a Pink Floyd song. They did a great job on the Led Zeppelin song "No Quarter" though, and I have no doubt that if they did a cover of "Comfortably Numb" it would be just as well done. And, for the person who mentioned "The Departed" soundtrack, that was Roger Waters (feat. Van Morrison and The Band. It's Track 1.

TOOL has never covered Comfortably Numb.

Tool is the closest thing to Pink Floyd that my generation will see. Pink Floyd is my favorite band and Tool is right behind them. Since imitation is the highest form of flattery my vote goes to Tool for their homage to the greatest band ever.

Tool is a great band I admit. I have really been getting into them and I must say that 10,000 days is such an excellent album that I can't stop listeing to. Pink Floyd, however, they are just on another level! You can not compare anyone to Pink Floyd.

Sorry, David Gilmour, but you are sooooooo wrong it hurts. This is a cover, done, in fact, by Tool. It is on The Departed soundtrack and it blows the original away. Much better, as if Tool created it from scratch. Plus, they are much better artists and have much better music than Pink Floyd.....which is an over rated band from all the druddies from their era.

If Tool really did do this cover, then good for them. It is not like they are selling it and making any money from it, so they aren't selling out. They are the best band to date and that doesn't seem to be changing. All you Pink Floyd fans, if you don't like this version, then don't listen to it. I like this newer version better.

Hey, I hope this clears this up for all you idiots. This is not by tool but an early version of comfortably numb sung without lyrics --- > by DAVID GILMOUR.

Peace

Tool version i little bit dynamic and ending solo sounds great. Now i like to listen Tol version but i can't say that this is better.
