'should listen to the 1992 cover from Willy de Ville, It's a the best of those covers that received airplay. With that typical thick, pathetic cajun/mariachi mix atmosphere de Ville was addicted to in those days. Long before it turned mainstream. Simply brilliant.

Actually I think Nick Cave's version is extremely impressive but you really have to go with Hendrix.

Actually, another guitar legend Roy Buchanan, does a supremely good version of Hey Joe, and does it in tribute. It's good.
