Cover vs. Original

Turn The Page

I think that both artists did a good job on "Turn The Page". The heavy style from Metallica fits quite well to this song. But I like the calm-country-style version by Bob Seger better.
So what is your opinion? I can imagine that lots of younger people don't even know the original version by Bob Seger. So take the chance and listen to this great song.

I love both versions of this song. Honestly if you look at the lives both artists have held, both arrangements work for who they are. Hetfield, Hammet, Ulrich, when they released this version they were all still fighting drugs, fame, and themselves, and its a great heavy version to show the struggle within.

I unfortunately read to much in to the feeling of the song and who it was written for. That plus the fact that Metallica chose to cover a great song by an American original like Seger, and deliver no feeling in the performance while having an utter disregard for those it was written for in the industry. Seger-good, Metallica-bad, bad, bad.

Bob seger's is good, but Metallica's heavier arrangement actually suits the song better and therefore sounds musically better. Hetfield doesn't sing the vocals aswell but kirk hammett on the guitar makes the metallica cover better with some amazing guitar

Pathetic! Metallica isn't fit to set Segers stage up. Seger has always been about the music while Metallica has always been about money!

They are both two Amazing singers and both have to diffrent kinds on Genre. But Metalica did the Emotition very well and made it his own and is what you should do when making a cover in someone else's song. The Original was flawless and as the original still over did Metalicas. Though its a hard choice Bob Sager wins :P

Metallica's Turn the Page is the best Bob Seger song I ever heard.

Their cover of Skynrd's "Tuesday's Gone" is also one of the covers they've done - Awesome.
