Cover vs. Original

Turn The Page

I think that both artists did a good job on "Turn The Page". The heavy style from Metallica fits quite well to this song. But I like the calm-country-style version by Bob Seger better.
So what is your opinion? I can imagine that lots of younger people don't even know the original version by Bob Seger. So take the chance and listen to this great song.

Actually, I like both versions. It really depends on my mood which one sounds better to me. And I think it's great that Metallica gave an other meaning to the song then Bob Seger.
And I don't understand why people need to be rude to everyone who doesn't agree with them. Don't be so stupid.

around 5-6 years a go I ran into a spliced vertion of this song and it had Bob Seager setting up the song and mettalica doing what thay do best and makeing it heavy. it was a grate song it had the best of both bands haveing listend to that both songs just dont have it any more. you need both to capture the wide range of emotions that were put into the song.

Well you have a guy on one hand who is probably trying to sue some poor sap for downloading his album, and then a another guy who sold out to the pickup truck advertisers. Putting all that aside, Metallica was best when they were the fastest most evil band. So Bob Segar is right in his element here and thus the original can't be beat.

Metallica does a really good job. But in my opinion, Bob Seger's version is better. More soulful and passionate. The song is supposed to be about the rigors of touring on the road. And while Metallica is no stranger to that, thier version has subtle elements of anger and rage which do not fit the context and meaning of the song.

For those who accuse me of "hating on Metallica", shut the hell up and use your effing brain. Try and be intelligent for once.

Oh, and Jesse (from San Diego) - you're an idiot.

Obviously this is a reflection of generations that use the internet and ones that don't.

Just to say I'm a huge Metallica fan and I still go with Bob. Seger's Powerful singing paired with a skillfully played saxophone, even Metallica can't beat Seger at this one.
