Cover vs. Original

What I Am

Emma Bunton's cover of What I Am confirmed her lack of talent and imagination for anyone who may have still been sitting on the fence on this one.

Let's not forget that Emma's version was produced by Tin Tin Out so they deserve a lot of the credit for bringing nothing new to this version. They did a good version of "here's where the story ends" originally by the Sundays. Of course, nothing touches the Sundays.

While Emma did do a great version, she didn't bring anything new to the song, so Edie gets my vote.

There should be a law against this sort of thing - cover versions that just ape the original and squeeze any ounce of originality out of it.

Emma did better in the spice girls.

Her cover is pretty much lame.

I'm melting, when I hear Edie first 11 years ago in the Videoclip on the Windows 95 Software CD - since that time I was a fan. She gives not too much music to her fans... And who the f*** is Emma Bunton?

Yikes!
I hadn't heard the Emma Bunton version before :-S
In my opinion, it's an unnecessary cover version that doesn't add anything to the original.

Really a crap song either version but at least the original was performed by it's composers. Never really heard from Edie again after she married Paul Simon. Thank you Paul!
