Cover vs. Original

Raining Blood

Although Slayer's original version was pretty damn influential, Tori's is just so much more hard-hitting on so many levels.

I really like Tori's version but it doesn't make me dance like an unco ordinated moron. Sometimes the moron has to win.

I like both.

Tori's version because it has that whole chilly terrorizing weather to it.

And Slayer's original because it conveys well the feeling of impending doom it's intended to.

Tori's cover is a rather unique specimin, almost borderline early industrial with its impending dread & gothic tone

however, in the end of the day, the hard-hitting, ultra-violent original is a legendary tune thats only a portion of an equally legendary album by one of Thrash Metal's best

I'm a Toriphile, and my husband's a metal head. He spent the better part of ten years going to Metallica, Pantera, and Slayer concerts. I played this song for him one day, and the look on his face: he said Raining Blood is his favorite Slayer song, but Tori's version scared the shit out of him, because it's tone is so low and menacing. You have to respect a woman who can cover a Slayer song and make it more evil and terrifying than they did.

I'm a huge Slayer fan of 3 years but I also have loved Tori for 2 years... the competition is a close one between both versions, but as Slayer's is a metal classic that was so incredibly influential, they get my vote. However, Tori's is a genius work of art and her interpretation is THE MOST BRILLIANT cover I've heard. Ever. Both artists are amazing but in this case Slayer wins.

Como uma música tão agressiva pode se tornar uma perola tão bela na voz angelical dessa mulher?

35 year ol slayer addict. I don't really like Tori's version although I appreciate it. It's not that I exclusively listen to metal but this one just doesn't do much for me. Just listened to her version of Real Men and Enjoy the Silcence and I think those are pretty good.
