Cover vs. Original

Comfortably Numb

You got to give a band credit for turning a rather beautiful ballad into a balls-out disco rock tune. It took guts. And I totally commend the Scissor Sisters for their unique creation... besides the fact that I adore the band! Anyone who says they don't like this cover just doesn't want to give it a chance.

How is this even a contest? Ten years from now, I want to remind all of you that voted for SS that you actually liked them back in 2008. Your embarrassment will kill you. Ugh

This cover can be catchy after a few times. I hate to admit it, really. I can actually enjoy "some" disco if the mood strikes me. And the familiar words of a song by a hero and legend can be comforting. But is this cover better then the original? By far, absolutely not. It's just better for dancing. Who ever can't appreciate the original for it's rhythm and harmony, does not feel music, they only hear "beats".

Pink Floyd wrote the song. Pink Floyd plays the song best. There is a sort of warm feeling you get when you listen to this song that NO OTHER song lends. The Scissor Sisters don't have the ability to replicate that. And to change the mood of the song into a disco tune is just blasphemy.

well, people who consider sisters to be better than floyds, probably do not know what music is about... pink floyd is the best band i´ve ever heard. nobody can ever create music like they did and nobody can treat the guitar like dave does

It´s not a cover, it´s a parody. Scissor Sisters have slughtered one of the greatest songs ever made and it just makes me wanna throw up!

Although the Original is definatly more heart felt, theres something un-deniably catchy about the way the Sisters have redone it. I think they've made a good job - its a very hard song to do and they've managed to pull it off. Just look at the reaction of every person in the room when its played on a night out. They've made it legendary.
