You know, I wouldn't have given her much chance on this one, but her version is damn good... different in intensity of course, but it would have been much worse if she had attempted that intensity anyway... I absolutely dislike this cover version. It took everything that was ingrained in the song - all the angst, the pathos, and the misery of a generation - and completely stripped it away. Granted, we are left with a haunting rendtion, but this is not supposed to be a slow, melodic song. It is, like another poster said already, an explosive epithet on the gravestone of 80's rock - it's an anthem, and anthems are meant to be belted out, not crooned softly over "a little night music".
