Metallica has better musicians, and Thin Lizzy thought to remake it first, but I personally like Metallica for their originality.

My Vote is for metallica. The thin Lizzy version is great too, but I like the energy Metallica brings in to it, they give it more of an edge. But Andy, Belém, from Brazil, is right, Every version os the song you've ever heard is essentially a cover of it.
