Cover vs. Original

Holy Diver

I like them both a lot but I heard the original first, so it sounds way better to me than the cover.

While I love the original, and prefer it to the cover, I am willing to admit the fact KSE did quite a good job on their version of it.

Ummm, Killswitch are more well known for their own songs, they do have hits. They're a bit more than just a metalcore band, and have been around for a while. They're an excellent band, and they did an amazing job covering this classic song! That said, I'll always love Dio's version more, it really shows off what an awesome voice RJD had!

I heard the Killswitch Engage version first and later heard the original, and for a long time I preferred the KsE version... But I then bought The Very Beast of Dio and Black Sabbath: The Dio Years and I instantly liked the original much better. Killswitch Engage's cover is insanely good though, i will give them that, they should stand proud playing that song.

When I first heard the Killswitch Engage version I thought that it was boring and had no feeling to it, but it was not as bad as expected. I generally think metalcore is absolutely sterile and unemotional, so maybe it's just my personal taste.

Then the refrain set in and yes, there it was, this is what metalcore is doing to music... The vocals are pointless and the breakdown rhythm totally ruins the flow of the song.
However, I must admit that a metalcore band covering Dio could have done even worse.

The KsE version tears it up!!!! Its insane and so intense, its just like "eat it!!". I love it, the original is still sweet but KsE's verion is unbelievable, its rediculous!!! I love it!! KsE for Life!!!
